Marie Rose sauce and half a lemo

Marie Rose Sauce

This Marie Rose sauce is a simple, creamy classic that comes together in minutes and adds instant flavour to all kinds of dishes. Made with good quality mayonnaise and tomato ketchup, it has a smooth, rich base with just the right balance of sweetness and tang. A touch of paprika adds gentle warmth and colour, while splashes of Tabasco and Worcester sauce bring depth and a subtle savoury kick without overpowering the sauce. Finished with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a little seasoning, it is bright, well balanced, and incredibly moreish.

Because everything is simply mixed together in one bowl, this is one of those recipes that is as easy as it is reliable. Tasting as you go allows you to adjust the heat, acidity, or seasoning to suit your own preference, whether you like it mild and creamy or with a little extra punch. Using good mayonnaise makes all the difference here, giving the sauce a luxurious texture that holds its shape while still feeling light.

This sauce keeps well in the fridge, making it ideal to prepare ahead of time. It is perfect served with prawns, seafood platters, and salads, but it is just as good spooned into sandwiches, dolloped alongside chips, or used as a dip for cold meats. Once you have a jar ready to go, it quickly becomes one of those sauces you find yourself reaching for again and again.

Quick to make, easy to store, and endlessly useful, this Marie Rose sauce is a classic worth keeping in your kitchen.
